What is Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese bodywork therapy that works with gentle to firm pressure applied along the body’s meridians — the energy pathways connected to our physical, emotional and energetic wellbeing.
Rooted in East Asian medicine, shiatsu supports the natural flow of energy throughout the body and helps release tension, stagnation and stress. The work combines rhythmic pressure, stretches and mindful touch, always adapted to your body and your current state.
Shiatsu can be supportive for physical discomfort, fatigue, stress, emotional tension and periods when you feel out of balance or disconnected from your body.
What to Expect
Each shiatsu session begins with a short check-in, allowing space to arrive and share what’s present for you. During your first session, this initial consultation is usually a little longer, as we take time for a diagnostic conversation — looking at your symptoms, overall state and possible underlying causes of disharmony.
The treatment itself takes place on a futon, with you remaining comfortably clothed. Please come wearing comfortable, flexible clothing, or feel free to bring clothes to change into. A fresh pair of socks is also recommended.
Through steady, attentive pressure and gentle movement, the session supports deep relaxation while encouraging the body’s own regulatory and balancing processes. The pace is calm and grounded, creating space for both physical release and nervous system settling.
Shiatsu sessions are respectful, non-invasive and always adapted to your comfort. Some people experience immediate relaxation and clarity, while others notice more subtle shifts unfolding over the following days.
Shiatsu is offered in the studio or as a home visit, depending on availability and what feels most supportive for you.
How Shiatsu Can Support You
Shiatsu works holistically through the body’s meridian system, supporting physical balance, emotional regulation and energetic flow. Through pressure, stretches and mindful touch, shiatsu helps release stagnation, encourages circulation and supports the body’s natural self-regulating processes.
This therapy is particularly suited when physical symptoms and energetic imbalance are interconnected.
Shiatsu may be supportive if you experience:
Headaches or migraines
Sleep difficulties or restlessness
Neck, shoulder and back pain
Frozen shoulder or restricted mobility
Joint stiffness or limited range of motion
Digestive discomfort or low energy
Stress-related tension and fatigue
Hormonal or cycle-related imbalance
Fertility support (as part of holistic wellbeing)
Feeling energetically blocked or out of balance
